I lose my phone - a lot. I find it on the table, my dresser, next to my laptop, in the car, next to the nesting boxes, in the alpaca pen...the list goes on and on. Why does this keep happening to me? I'm not THAT scatterbrained, am I? Well, as much as I'd like to blame it on something general, like raising 5 kids and taking care of the animals--*self pat on the back here*--I finally paid attention to my daily patterns and realized it was simply a matter of not having pockets all the time while running around the ranch getting things done. I wear jeans a lot, and those are really the best, but I also vary between leggings (no pockets), athletic pants (small pockets) and the occasional business casual dress pant ensemble (pockets? yeah, right, funny joke). So I made a solution: a simple, crocheted cell phone purse I could wear comfortably and that would not get in my way.
I loved mine, except it didn't fasten. So I quickly added a button and a tiny strap just to secure things inside. It became my #1 essential for working around the ranch, not only for my phone, but also small items that I needed while I worked in the garden, or things I picked up that needed to be put away elsewhere.
Having succeeded in a useful design, I made two more: one for my mom and one for my grandma, who were preparing for a trip to Houston. They are both heavy purse addicts, but they said that my smaller purse helped them carry just the basics and leave their heavy purses behind. They felt more like "tourists".
At this time, my teenage daughter was waiting in line for me to make hers. I made a more dainty purse with a sparkly button, and it quickly became part of her daily apparel. So what happens when a 13-year-old girl goes to school with something unique? All her friends see it! It didn't take long before the begging started: "Can you make five for all my very best friends?" Did I hear that right? Five best friends? Oh what was I getting myself into...
Five cell phone purses later, I was a seasoned pro at making these in different stitches, with different yarns and buttons. And now, I share these with you! Thanks for reading and browsing the selection in the online store. Please comment and share your ideas with me. I'm always open to creating new products by request.
